The Cape Breton West Islanders of the Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League wish to announce that Head Coach Troy Chiasson has stepped down due to work commitments. Troy is a pipefitter by trade and will be heading west shortly to seek employment. The Islanders wish to thank Troy for all his time, effort and dedication over the past season and wish him well!

The Islanders wish to announce that Inverness native Kyle MacDonald has been appointed the new Head Coach, effect immediately. Kyle is a former Islanders Captain, also having played junior hockey in the MJAHL with Charlottetown and Miramichi.

Kyle then played 4 seasons with the University of Waterloo Warriors in the CIS where he graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in History.  Following his years at Waterloo, he continued his studies at St FX receiving his Education Degree in 2015, and is currently teaching in Northern Manitoba, where he also is an assistant coach with the local Midget Team.

Kyle coached the Nova Major Bantams in 2014-15 where he led the team to the Atlantic Championship. He is looking forward to building the Islanders into a Championship team.

Thanks,

Brian Mac Innis, President
