CAPE BRETON WEST ISLANDERS SIGN NEW COACH

 


A native of Glace Bay where he played his minor hockey before moving up to the Cape Breton Tradesman of the NSMMHL, Donovan was drafted by both the Antigonish Bulldogs of the Maritime Junior Hockey League and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

He played with the Bulldogs in the MJAHL from 2002-06 and served as assistant captain of the Bulldogs for two years before moving up to team captain for his final season. Sean spent the next five seasons from 2006-11 playing for the X-Men where he was team co-captain in his final two years and where he also participated in two CIS National Championships and two AUS final championships.

He has also been involved with various hockey schools and player development programs since 2000 including Alan Andrews Hockey Growth Program and the St FX X-Men Hockey School.

A recent graduate of St FX he is currently working in the Cape Breton West area. The Islanders are excited to have Sean as their new head coach and both he and the Islanders are anxious to get started. The first order of business will be contacting returning players as well as new recruits.

The Islanders on-ice training camp is scheduled to start Aug 22nd.
