The Cape Breton West Islanders of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League would like to announce key additions to their coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Matthew Mac Isaac of Judique has returned for his third season as an Assistant Coach. Matthew is a former player in the league with Cape Breton West, who was drafted by the Antigonish Bulldogs of the MJAHL. He played Junior hockey for both the Halifax Oland Exports of MJAHL and the Strait Pirates of the NSJHL. Matthew began his coaching career as an assistant with Dalbrae Academy Dragons before joining the Islanders Coaching staff for the 2009-10 season.

Aaron Mac Innis of Port Hood joins the team as an Assistant Coach. Aaron is a former player in the league having played with the Antigonish Nova Midgets. He played Junior A hockey with the Antigonish Bulldogs before moving on to Major Junior in the QMJHL and the OHL.  Aaron played university hockey with the UPEI Panthers where he was Team Captain for his final 2 seasons. He also played a combined six years of Pro in the ECHL and the CHL . He was Team Captain and Asst Coach in his final two years with the New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League..

Steve Pattillo originally from Halifax and now residing in Antigonish returns to the Islanders as their Goalie Coach.  Steve grew up playing AAA hockey in Halifax, played for Queen Elizabeth High School for 3 years where he was Team MVP all 3 years. While attending STFXU he served as back up goalie for StFX for part of the 2009-10 season, was the goalie Coach in Bantam AAA for 2 years, for Dr JH Gillis Boys Hockey for 3 years and was with the Cape Breton West Islanders Major Midgets during the 2008-09 season. He has also worked with the Northern Storm as Goalie Coach and ran the Goalie Program for the Troy Crowder Hockey School in Sudbury, Ontario.

 Islanders Team President, Brian Mac Innis adds,” with the recent appointment of Sean Donovan to the Head Coaching position and these recent additions, we are very pleased with our coaching staff. We feel they have the potential to be as good as any in the league.”
