HALIFAX, NS, July 20, 2012 - Port Hood, NS, native Kendall MacInnis will join the Dalhousie University Tigers men's hockey program this fall, the Tigers head coach Chris Donnelly announced on Friday.

The 21 year-old centre joins the Tigers after three seasons with the Truro Junior A Bearcats. In the 2011-12 regular season he collected 15 goals and 19 assists as well as 72 penalty minutes. During the playoffs he recorded one goal and five assists.

His teammates selected him as the team player award recipient at the conclusion of the season for his leadership and efforts on the ice. An assistant captain with the Bearcats since 2009, his leadership and hardworking attitude will be an asset for the Tigers.

“We were looking for an intelligent defensive forward to add to our program and Kendall was the best in the entire Maritime Junior Hockey League,” says Donnelly. “His work ethic and leadership qualities will positively affect our program immediately."

MacInnis joins Bearcat teammate Matt English in committing to the Tigers for the coming season.

He is looking forward to wearing a Tigers jersey this fall.

“It was a goal of mine to one day play in the AUS and to do it with Dalhousie is a dream come true,” he says. “I hope to contribute to the team’s success next season and for years to come while continuing to develop as a hockey player.”

This fall he will start Dalhousie’s management program.
