At the Nova Scotia Major Midget League Awards banquet held on Saturday, April 7 in Truro, Cape Breton West Islanders defenceman Mark Trickett was awarded the league’s Top Defenceman Award. Mark was the highest scoring defenceman in the league with 18 goals and 20 assists for 38 points in 34 regular season games. The 16 year old defenceman is seen below receiving his award from League Commissioner Judge David Ryan.
Islanders Team Captain Brandon Lee MacKinnon was presented with the 2012 Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL Team Scholarship Award for his Academic and Athletic performance.
